Miami International Music Competition 2025

Repertoire :
-
Solo Instrument and Chamber Music :
One piece or one movement of a multi-movement work (such as a sonata, concerto) will be considered one work.
**(If you would like to submit more than one piece, you must submit a separate application per each piece)

Voices :
*Junior Division I and Junior Division II : Any one Song
*Senior Division to Professional Artist Division : Two Contrasting style songs in 2 different languages or one Aria and One Art Song.
**All participants must perform from memory(No music sheets allowed)
Rule & Regulations :

Application Fees: All application fees are non-refundable.

Video Submission: Participants must submit a public YouTube link of their performance. Private or unlisted links will not be accepted.

Video Source: Submissions do not need to be recorded specifically for this competition; other existing performance videos are permitted, provided they meet all video guidelines.

Accompaniment: Accompaniment is optional and not required.

Memory Requirement: All participants must perform from memory.

Video Guidelines Compliance: All participants must follow the general video submission guidelines listed below.
Video Submission Guidelines :
-
The camera must clearly capture the performer’s entire face, entire instrument, and full range of motion.
-
Pianists: Ensure the entire body and pedals are visible.
-
Ensure the camera is properly focused before recording.
-
Videos must be recorded from a stable, fixed camera angle.
-
No shaking, movement, or split/multi-screen videos.
-
No video or audio editing is allowed. Any form of manipulation will result in disqualification.

The audio quality must be clear and of good standard.
-
Performers should wear comfortable, professional attire (e.g., business casual or concert-appropriate clothing).

The video must be recorded in one continuous take (no cuts or edits).
Judging Criteria:

Piece Perfection 90%): The overall execution of the piece will carry the most weight, reflecting how well the participant performs the full piece.

Piece Difficulty (10%): The level of difficulty of the piece will be considered, though it holds a lower weight compared to the overall completion.

Performer’s Potential (0%): The judgment is based solely on YouTube videos, with no consideration for future potential or improvement.

Disqualification Criteria :
A participant may be disqualified for any of the following:
-
Performing with sheet music (except for contemporary works; in such cases, the score must be submitted via email).

Memory lapses during the performance.
-
Failure to clearly show the performer’s face and instrument (e.g., back facing the camera or blurry footage).
-
Shaky or unstable video recordings.
-
Use of lip-syncing or video/audio manipulation in vocal performances.
-
Inclusion of third-party audio or video footage.
Participant Benefits :
1. All Participants will be given the opportunity to perform at Newman Recital Hall, University of Miami in the 1st Miami International Music Festival from January 11 2026.
2. All Participants receive a high quality certificate and a judge's advice/comments on their performance along by mail
3. University Recommendation Letter from the competition chairman
4. International Students : Invitation sent to your local School
